We hope this finds you and yours blessed and happy as Christmas Day approaches and this challenging year comes to a close. Here’s our final update for 2019 (and the decade!), with information about the #Resolution2020 project; opportunities to relive or discover both our last Christmas concert and September’s Forward Home... and our heartfelt greetings to you!
A few weeks before our Christmas concert, we were approached to join an ambitious international climate action project, initiated by a phenomenal team including the World Wildlife Fund and Decca Records/Universal Music.
Groups and artists around the world have recorded a specially commissioned song — the Resolution Song, or “The World on Our Shoulders”. The project was launched on Wednesday 11th December at the COP25 (the UN Climate Conference in Madrid). It has been our honour and privilege to represent the Caribbean as this movement begins, and to have been one of the groups from 28 different countries to have sing together as a #VoiceForThePlanet. Since then, more and more groups and artists from all over the world have been joining the movement — and organisers invite everyone to join the resolution (learn more here).
Small island developing states (SIDS) like ours are on the front lines of climate change — and we in T&T facing unique challenges given our systemic reliance on hydrocarbons. Our representatives at the COP25 lamented that the negotiations have been nowhere ambitious enough to avert the climate crisis. So, we sing:
With our arms wide open
Make a resolution
Time for change
Tomorrow is a brand new day…
